10 Days of Medical Illustration

In February, I attended a CreativeMornings talk by Herbert Lui focused on creative commitment (https://creativemornings.com/talks/redefining-creative-commitment-herbert-liu). During the session, attendees were challenged to choose one creative practice and commit to it for ten consecutive days.

I chose to complete ten freehand medical illustrations in Procreate.

The goal was to create work outside of client and academic projects while building consistency in my illustration practice. Although the challenge extended beyond the original ten days due to travel and scheduling, I completed all ten illustrations over seventeen days.

The challenge became a useful exercise in maintaining a regular drawing practice and exploring faster, more observational approaches to medical illustration.

Observations

This series was an opportunity to spend more time developing freehand digital illustration skills outside of structured project work. It also reinforced the value of maintaining a consistent personal practice alongside client-based work.
